How to join ShareASale

Joining affiliate programs is a great way to monetize your blog, website and social media content. This article will offer a walkthrough in joining ShareASale.

What is ShareASale?

The ShareASale Affiliate Network acts as a go-between for content publishers (affiliates) and online merchants. Once you get accepted into the ShareASale network, you’ll be in a position to apply to join the affiliate programs of thousands of online merchants.

The network has approximately 4,500 merchants. Around a thousand are exclusive to ShareASale. Affiliate programs you can join include those in the following categories:

Pre-Requisites to joining ShareASale

As part of the application process, you will be requested to enter your website address. Translation: You’ll need a website!

On the accounts page, you will see the screen below, click on the “SIGN UP” tab.

Step 1: Create your ShareASale User Account

On the signup page, choose a username and password. The credentials will be required to provide for future logins.

Step 2: Provide Website Information and Describe Content

On the following page, you will be required to enter your website address and provide details of the content.

For the primary affiliate website, you should include the web address of your main website and select the language of the site content from the dropdown list.

The final series of questions are related to the type of website you are operating. If you don’t understand any of the information requests, then your answer should be No.

If you answer Yes to any of the questions in this section, I suspect this will flag your site up for additional checks.

Step 3: Provide an Email Address

The following page will request your email address.

Make sure this is an active email address that you can access. ShareASale will send you an email to confirm it.

Step 4: Provide your Personal Contact Information and Marketing Plans

The following stage is to provide your personal contact information, including name, address, telephone.

You will also be asked to create a four-digit security pin number. The number will be used as an identifying credential, so ensure it’s one you can remember.

The next step involves providing a description of your marketing plans – namely how you intend to promote ShareASale affiliate programs.

Completing the Description Field

The description field is for you to provide brief details on how you intend to promote ShareASale.

Provide information on your website(s), and how you intend to drive traffic to the merchant’s website. Are you a blogger? If so, mention it here. Describe your niche.

If you have social media accounts, followings or email subscriber lists, mention them.

The final question relates to your website and incentive programs. For example, do you reward visitors for completing actions?

The question does not relate to giving a free ebook away in return for signing up to an email list. The query is more to do with financial gain.

Once you have completed this section, there is only one more page to go!

Section 5: Payment

Don’t worry; you don’t have to pay for anything. This section is asking you how you would like to get paid once you’ve earned commissions.

You don’t actually have to complete this section now. “Choose Later” is a valid option and it’s possible to change your selection whenever you like.

That’s it! Assuming you have responded to the email confirmation that ShareASale sent to your designated email address then you should receive a decision within 24 hours.

Once accepted, you’ll be able to apply to join affiliate programs of the 4,500 merchants in the network.
